Over a third of all GCSE results at Adcote School are top grades

Posted: 24th August 2023

Students at Adcote School are celebrating again today with over a third of all grades awarded to Year 11 being grade 8 or 9 (A*) – well above the national average of 12%.

A delighted Mrs Browne said: “Over half of all grades awarded to Year 11 this year accomplished grades 9-7 (A*/A).

These results really do bring a tear to the eye in the best way possible. In the context of everything this cohort has had to contend with regarding the pandemic, these results are stunningly good.

We are thrilled that our number of the very top grades (levels 9-8, the old A* equivalent) has risen significantly from last year by 7% to 36%, but importantly, there has been an incredible increase of 24% from pre-pandemic 2019 results. Our number of 9-7 grades (A*/A) has also increased from last year by 12% to 53%.

To achieve these grades in the face of a well-published national decline in the number of A*/A grades awarded is thrilling and a full reflection of the dedication of our students and staff. These exceptional results are truly well-deserved and we send our congratulations to all students.”

Adcote School is a non-selective, independent day and boarding school in Little Ness, Shrewsbury for students aged 7-18, where the unique CLEAR learning programme teaches students the core skills of confidence, leadership, engagement, achievement and resilience, supporting them to thrive and contribute to society.
