By Miss Pugh
There is one word that springs to mind: ‘MUD.’
The first race on was the U10 girls. After some gentle persuasion by Mrs Livermore and Miss Pugh, the girls were finally ready to race in their t-shirt and skorts… all shivering away on the start line. I bet they were glad that they had clean warm kit once they finished the race! The highlight of the day was Poppy Livermore, who started the race strong and maintained her performance throughout finishing in 4th place. Well done for setting the standard for the day Poppy. She will now represent the Midlands team in the National event on Saturday 4th March.
Amelia Livermore was the first Adcote representative to cross the finish line in the U14 race. They missed out on any of the Top 12 spots, but did extremely well. It’s great to see so many of our sprinters trying their best in long distance events also… Felicity Davies had a 100m sprint to the finish despite it being a cross country event.
Ella Thomas was the first representative to finish the U12 race in 18th place.
Georgia Richardson led from the start but had to work hard to maintain a top 10 spot in the grueling course. After gauge walking, brook paddling and climbing mud-sliding hills, she came 9th with a time of 18.04…a brilliant result and a great target for her to compete in the same age group next year.
It was great to see the girls try their best and enjoy the day. Miss Pugh spent the day dodging all the mud in her bright clean trainers, whilst the U10s found the cleanest part of grass to keep practicing their gymnastics.
Next year, I must remember to take my wellies.
